Davey Boy Smith a fait les belles heures de la WWE autant en équipe sous le nom des British Bulldogs que sa brillante carrière solo par la suite. HDLS : Comment as-tu débuté dans la lutte?
Smith : À la base, lorsque j’étais enfant c’était un rêve pour moi de devenir lutteur. Alors quand j’étais très jeune, j’ai fait un show dans une petite ville qui se nomme Rockyford. J’ai affronté mon cousin Mattew Annis, il est décédé en 96 malheureusement.
HDLS : Quel a été ton moment le plus mémorable dans la lutte?
Smith : Jusqu’à présent mon moment le plus mémorable a été de faire équipe avec mon père avant son décès.
HDLS : Quel a été ton combat le plus difficile?
Smith : Mes combats les plus difficiles ont toujours été contre Ted Hart ou TJ Wilson. Ces deux gars m’amènent dans les matchs les plus difficiles et ils me forcent à me donner le meilleur de moi-même.
HDLS : Où luttes-tu maintenant?
Smith : Présentement, la plupart du temps à la New Japan Pro Wrestling, mais je travaille aussi pour la PWA à Edmonton.
HDLS : Est-ce que tu suivais ton père en tournée, lorsque tu étais jeune?
Smith : Oui
HDLS : Comment c’est d’être le fils de Davey Boy Smith?
Smith : C’est comme être le fils de Davey Boy Smith. Je suis très chanceux, d’être né dans une famille aussi connue dans le monde de la lutte et d’avoir un père aussi célèbre.
HDLS : Tu as fait quelques Dark Matchs pour la WWE, travailleras-tu pour eux bientôt?
Smith : Je crois que ce sera très prochainement, mais je ne suis pas un voyant.
HDLS : Tu utilise le nom « The Bulldog » et ta prise de finition est le Powerslam, est-ce que c’est un hommage à ton père?
Smith : Oui, c’est un hommage à mon père.
HDLS : Le 7 mai 2002, tu as fait un match en équipe avec ton père, comment as été cette expérience?
Smith : C’était une expérience merveilleuse. Quelque chose que j’ai voulu faire toute ma vie, j’ai eu cette opportunité et j’en suis heureux.
HDLS : Dans le passé, plusieurs lutteurs ont dit en entrevue que d’être le fils d’un lutteur est vraiment difficile car les adversaires veulent se prouver avec toi, est-ce vrai?
Smith : Oui c’est très vrai. Si tu as un nom de famille célèbre, ils veulent te battre et t’utiliser comme une marche pour se transporter au sommet.
HDLS : Aimerais-tu travailler pour TNA?
Smith : Oui et j’aimerais que ça se fasse prochainement.
HDLS : Voici quelques noms liés au monde de la lutte, dis-moi ce que tu penses d’eux :
Davey Boy Smith : J’ai beaucoup de respect pour lui et ce qu’il a fait dans le ring, mais je le respecte encore plus pour être mon père.
Chris Benoit : Selon moi, il a été le meilleur Junior Heavyweight de la New Japan. J’aime son intensité et son agressivité.
Owen Hart : J’ai été sous le choc lorsque j’ai appris son décès. C’est un autre grand lutteur pour qui j’ai énormément de respect.
Bret Hart : Finalement, tous ses matchs expliquent bien son histoire. Selon moi, il est peut-être le meilleur lutteur de l’histoire.
Stu Hart : On ne peut dire que de bonnes choses sur Stu. Il était très gentil, mais en même temps il était un des êtres humains les plus durs que j’ai connu.
Vince McMahon : Un génie et un bourreau de travail aussi.
Brian Pillman : J’étais très triste lorsque j’ai appris son décès. Il avait le feu lorsqu’il était dans le ring. Un autre bon lutteur.
Steve Austin : Bon pour la business.
Shawn Michaels : Un grand athlète, beaucoup de charisme…Un bon lutteur. Il continue et performe chaque soir avec l’état de son dos, c’est très impressionnant pour moi.

HDLS : How did you start in pro wrestling?
Smith : Basically as a young child growing up it was a dream of mine to be a Professional Wrestler. So when I was very young I did a show in a small town called Rockyford Ab, where I faced my cousin Mattew Annis. He passed away in '96 unfortunately.
HDLS : What Was your Most memorable moment in wrestling?
Smith : Thus far, my most memorable moment in Wrestling has been teaming with father before he passed away.
HDLS : What was your toughest match?
Smith : My toughest matches have always been versus Ted Hart, or Tj Wilson. Those two guys bring me the hardest fight, and always bring the best out of me.
HDLS : Where are you wrestling right now?
Smith : Right now, mostly with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but I do work for PWA up in Edmonton.
HDLS : Did you follow your dad on tour, when you were young?
Smith : Yes.
HDLS : How is it to be the son of Davey Boy Smith?
Smith : It's like being the son of Davey Boy Smith. I am very lucky you could say, being born into such a well known Wrestling family, and having a dad so famous.
HDLS : You did some dark matches for WWE, are you gonna work for them soon?
Smith : I would imagine ver very soon, but I am not a psychic.
HDLS : You use the name « The Bulldog » and your finisher is the powerslam, is it a tribute to your father?
Smith : Yes, this is a tribute to my father.
HDLS : On May 7 2002, you did a tag team match with your father, how was the experience?
Smith : It was a very great experience. Something that I had always wanted to do in my life. I got that oppurtunity so I am happy.
HDLS : In the past, many wrestlers said in interviews that being a son of a wrestler is really tough, beacause opponents wants to prove themselves on you, is that true?
Smith : Yes that is very true. If you have a famous last name, they want to beat you and use you as a stepping stone to get themselves to the top.
HDLS : Would you like to work for TNA?
Smith : Yes I would like to in the near future.
HDLS : Here are wrestling related names, tell me what you think of them:
Davey Boy Smith- I have a lot of respect for him for what he did in the ring, but I respect him most of all for being my father.
Chris Benoit- In my opinion, he was New Japan's very best junior heavyweight. I love his intensity and his aggression.
Owen Hart- I was shocked to hear about his passing. Aside from that he was another great wrestler whom I have a tremendous amount of respect for.
Bret Hart- Bottom line is that his matches always tell the best story. In my opinion he might be the best overall Wrestler ever.
Stu Hart- Not enough good things you can say about Stu. He was a very kind man, but at the same time he was one of the toughest human beings I've known.
Vince McMahon- A genius, and a workaholic too.
Brian Pillman- I was very sad to hear about his passing. Brian had a special fire to him everytime he was in the ring. Another great wrestler. S
Steve Austin- Great for business.
Shawn Michaels- A tremendous athlete, great charisma......just an overall great Wrestler. Still going and performing night after night with a fused back is very impressive in my eyes.
